About

Alan Brain is a contemporary UK artist based in Highcliffe, Dorset, England, previously associated with Chobham, Surrey. He discovered painting over 25-30 years ago after attending a watercolour class with friends, which led to a profound career change. A former pilot and flying instructor, his work is deeply inspired by life's experiences, including the vastness of skies, open landscapes from travels to Japan, Wales, Arizona, New Mexico, and Africa, as well as themes of solitude, body language, and emotion. He creates 'visible feelings' through abstract, geometric, and surrealist styles, evolving from representational art to abstract expressionism and embracing surrealism to express enigmatic emotions.[1][2][3][4]
