About

Akishi Ueda is a Japanese sculptor born in 1991 in Nagoya, Japan. Initially aspiring to be an illustrator or comic artist, he drew pictures for a long time but struggled to convey his vision. In high school, he took sculpture courses focusing on clay, though he found the academic approach uninteresting. It was during his time at Aichi Prefecture Nagoya Art Institute of Technology's Art Creator course, from which he graduated in 2013, that he discovered his unique style. He held his first solo exhibition as a university student and became a full-time artist immediately after graduation, sustaining his career through art.[1][2]

Surreal sculptures evoking nostalgia, melancholy, and strange scenery with themes of city memories, future (children), and past (elders).
